Staff![]() Prior to following God's calling to launch Cross Creek Church, Chris ministered to the Birmingham community for seven years on the pastoral staff of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Chris has lived in Pennsylvania, Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO. He and his wife, Patience, an Alabama native, have four lovable and energetic boys. Chris is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Covenant Theological Seminary, also in St. Louis, and is currently working on a PhD. in Southern Religious History at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
![]() Our Assistant Pastor, Harrison Hatfield (hhatfield@crosscreekchurch.net) Harrison and his wife, Mary Margaret, are from North Alabama and graduates from the University of AL, Tuscaloosa. While attending Reformed Theological Seminary in Mississippi both were on staff at a local PCA church - Harrision serving as youth director and pastoral intern and Mary Margaret, as nursery director. They have two daughters and one son. ![]() Christine has over fifteen years experience working as a ministry assistant in both large and small churches and has volunteered her time and talents in Music, Missions, Children, and Women Ministries.

Derek was raised in the mission field both in Indonesia and South Africa. He assisted his parents with a church plant among the Indians in Durban, South Africa. There God laid it on his heart the desire to be involved in ministry. He is a graduate from Bryan College (Dayton, TN) with a degree in Music Ministry. He is married to our Children's Ministry Director, Laura.

(ldougherty@crosscreekchurch.net) Laura, originally from North Carolina, met Derek at Bryan College, where, she too, received her degree in Elementary Education. She has three years experience teaching both 5th grade and pre-school children in City and Christian school systems and has taught children of all ages from toddlers through 6th grade in Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday evening Bible studies for over ten years ("since I was practically a kid myself"). She is currently pursuing a Masters in Education degree at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. ![]() Our Youth Leader, Hunter Twitty
Hunter, a Birmingham native and graduate from Mountain Brook High School, is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School (Samford University). He also has degree in Religion from Furman University (2009). He has been a youth minister and has conducted and given talk at various small group youth retreats. He has a heart for students and wants to see Christ working in the lives of teens in the Hoover Community. ![]() Our Girls Youth Leader, Whitney Halbrooks (whithalbroox@gmail.com) Whitney, originally from Cullman, Alabama, is currently pursuing a degree in Early childhood/Elementary education at UAB. She has worked with high school-age girls as mentor and small group leader at Summit Ministries in Colorado. She and her husband Ben worked with the youth at Cahaba Park Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama. She has a passion for working with middle school and high school age kids and is so thrilled to have the privilege of working with the kids at Cross Creek. She is excited about seeking God in growing the hearts and minds of the youth group in Him.
